Event Summary
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has called on organisations to review their use of automated decision-making (ADM) in recruitment.
Attend Westminster Insight’s timely Automated Decision-Making (ADM) in Recruitment Conference on 22 July 2026 to gain practical insights and policy guidance on the fair and responsible use of ADM in hiring.
The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 has reshaped the UK’s approach to automated decision-making, and the ICO is currently consulting on updated ADM guidance. We will hear from senior policy and regulatory experts at the Information Commissioner’s Office, Caroline Callaghan and Declan McDowell-Naylor, who will outline the ICO’s expectations for ADM and profiling in recruitment. They will explain what the new safeguards-led regime means in practice and provide practical guidance on how employers can comply with confidence.
Expert speakers will explore the use of AI across the recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing, to CV screening to candidate ranking and interviews. Discover how ADM, when implemented effectively, can enhance hiring efficiency and candidate experience, enabling faster recruitment, improved candidate matching, and stronger retention outcomes. When used poorly, there is the risk of overlooking qualified, suitable candidates, and the potential for costly legal proceedings for discrimination. What steps can your organisation take to ensure meaningful human involvement in decision-making and guarantee fair treatment for candidates?
Learn from best practice case studies showcasing how organisations are successfully implementing ADM while addressing the key risks, such as bias and sensitive data. Automated decisions should be clear, fair, transparent, and easy to understand, and candidates must have the right to challenge decisions and request human review. Ensure your teams are adequately prepared to explain how ADM is used and handle challenges, and carry out robust Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
Whether you work in the public, private, or third sector, join us for an exciting day of networking, expert insights, and practical learning to help you scale ADM in recruitment while managing associated risks.
