“…Last year saw the biggest annual increase in children in care numbers since 2010, and councils are now starting more than 500 child protection investigations every day on average …” Cllr Richard Watts, Chair of the LGA’s Children and Young People Board

In June 2018 the Children’s Commissioner published its annual report, the ‘Stability Index 2018’ which found that half of England’s 8.6 Billion Children’s Services Budget is being spent on just 73,000 of the most serious cases of children in care. Furthermore, it found that almost 2400 children in care had to deal with a change of home, school and social worker all within the space of a year.

Our Children in Care Conference, created after in-depth research with leading specialists, past delegates, and key stakeholders, will examine issues in, and for children in care. You will have the opportunity to hear from experts, trailblazers and practitioners on children’s mental health, stability, transitioning care and several case studies.
