The Government’s 2015 strategy ‘Sporting Future’, not only highlighted the positive impact sport can have on mental health, but also recognised the importance of sportspeople’s mental well-being.

Professional sportspeople face a number of unique pressures in order to meet high expectations. The high-pressured environment, combined with public scrutiny and the risk of injury, can create several challenges for positive mental health.

Westminster Insight’s half-day forum will unite those across the sporting sector to discuss the current climate and examine the actions that need to be taken to put people, their well-being, and welfare, at the centre of sport.

Explore collaborative approaches to tackling the stigma surrounding mental health and deliver essential support. You will hear an athletes account first-hand, as well as case studies of successful initiatives that have had a positive effect on people and teams as a whole.

Join your peers to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to better understand and support people during high-risk times and review the importance of having an identity outside of sport.

Aimed at managers, coaches, medical professionals, safeguarding professionals, player associations, sports psychiatrists and psychologists, academics, policy makers, and anybody who plays a role across the sport and mental health sector.
